About

Moving Company Atlanta GA is about finding a Moving Company in Atlanta.

Moving can be very stressful.   Picking the right moving company makes the experience much more bearable.  You often have a choice of  a local mover, or large national moving companies.

There are many services that moving companies provide.  Here are some of the most common:

  • Packing
  • Unpacking
  • Storage

For additional fees, some moving companies will even clean your house and place your furniture and belongings wherever you desire.

Choosing the right moving company will save you time, money, and frustration.

My worst experience with a moving company involved the movers not showing up on the day the move was to take place, and then trying to take advantage by doubling their rates, since they knew I had to move out by a certain date.  I told them to leave, and then found a reputable company to move me.

Here are some ways to save time and money on your move.

Plan Your Move

Ideally, you should schedule your move about six to eight weeks in advance.  Avoid weekend moves, if possible, because the rates are sometimes higher.  Also. the end of the month is usually the busy times for movers.  Some may even offer a discount on slow days, such as Mondays in the middle of the month.  It doesn’t hurt to ask.

Identify Your Needs

You’ll have to figure out how much you want to do yourself, and how much you’re willing to pay the movers  to do.  Obviously, the more you do yourself, the more you’ll save.  Most people prefer to pack their own valuables and fragile items.

Develop a list of everything you need to move, and how pieces of furniture and boxes you estimate you’ll have.

If you’re moving cross country you may also need a trailer or car carrier as well.

International travel involves a whole lot of other issues and costs.

Pricing

The amount of stuff you have to move will often determine the cost.  Prices vary widely.

Some movers will charge based on weight.  Others will charge an hourly rate.  Still others will charge by volume.  The important thing is to get a firm written quote.

Interview Moving Companies

Once you narrow down your search, set up appointments with three or four moving companies.

Here are some considerations:

  • How much insurance do they carry, and what does it cover?
  • How long have they been in business?
  • Are they a member of any trade associations (other than the BBB)?
  • How do they price their services?
  • How many people will be assigned to your move?

You should get at least 2 or 3 quotes and check references before you make a decision. Never hire a mover that doesn’t carry adequate insurance.

Remember to call the movers a few days ahead just to confirm, and you’re all set.
